TATA XENON

Tata’s Xenon will be offered with a new 140hp, 2.2-liter DICOR engine which powers the recently launched Tata’s 2.2L Safari. The maximum torque is 320 Nm. The Xenon is coupled to a gearbox and five-speed overdrive. With this powerful engine the Xenon can reach 0-100 km / h in less than 15 seconds and capable of reaching a top speed of 160kmph.

Phantom Alert: Speed Trap Warning System for your GPS.

• Phantom Alert, a software warns the driver of a car of hidden police cameras and DLII check posts right into your GPS System. It provides warning about 100,000 enforcement locations before you approach any of those areas.
• Phantom Alert works on the basis of data provided by the user about enforcement sites. It then uploads the information into the car's system "You will see them before they see you."

Performance

Rallying for a cause.

• The car rally conducted at Chennai, India on March29, 2009 was a challenge for the visually impaired participants.
• 62 teams participated in the event.
• The event conducted by the Madras Motor Sports Club (MMSC) in association with the National Association for the Blind (NAB) proved that humanbeings are not hampered by any adversities.
• The driver of each car was navigated by a blind person with the route provided in a Braille code. The team with the least number of penalty points was declared a winner. Anitha and Manjula had a near perfect drive with just one penalty point and won the rally. Lavanya and Vanaja had 13 penalty points. Senthilkumar and Kannan had 18 penalty points and declsred winners.
• The rally was a confidence builder and a real challenge for the visually impaired to navigate the vehicle through the busy roads of Chennai.

It’s been a week of driving six cylinder cars like the Audi A4 3.2FSI and the BMW 325i. The Audi A4 was pretty much top on the list of my favourite cars and needless to say I had a good time driving it on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway. Here is a teaser.


I was literally in love with this car and returning it was among the hardest things I did recently. The only consolation I had was the Accord 3.5L V6 waiting at Delhi to be ripped on the Noida expressway, a day later.

The previous generation Accord V6 was a much revered car as far as the enthusiasts were concerned. The 3.0L V6 with 221bhp was great on power but had earned a reputation for being a gas guzzler. With the new Accord, Honda has made use of technology such as cylinder cut-out (seen in some V8s like the 300C-now ditched?) to help the Accord save some precious fuel.

What if the dream of my flying car becomes true?

• It has now become a routine for me now to return home quite late at night and leave early to my office every morning with the result that I am out of the house for atleast 14 to 16 hours a day.
• My wife and children were wondering and were very curious to know as to what am I doing in the office for such long hours as the time I spent with them has drastically come down.
• Every one may assume that the reason for my returning home late and leaving early to office could be due to the work load in the office. Absolutely not as my work place strictly adheres to the discipline of arriving and leaving the office in time.
• One may wonder where does the problem lie. The culprit is the traffic jam through which I have to bade my car, not drive at an ant's pace in the mornings and evenings consuming around 3 to 4 hours of my valuable time to travel a distance of 40 km on euther direction.
• Today when I returned home, I was totally frustrated of driving and completely exhausted. I straight away fell on my bed and went into a deep sleep.
• I had an excellent dream. My car was remade with wings. It had been fitted with the engine of an airplane so that it can both ride on the road and also fly in the air. I was flying on this car to my office within 20 to 30 minutes. I was extremely happy as I no longer need to toil for hours through the traffic jams any more.
• I was very fresh in the morning when I got up with the hope of flying to my office. Alas! it took me little time to realise that it was only a dream. But, I am still happy with the hope that the days are not far of that flying cars will be an alternate to the congested and jammed roads as this beautiful world thrives only on hopes.

The eco friendly electric car

Petrol and diesel prices touching the sky. Why worry as my car does not run on petrol or diesel. My car uses the energy stored in a series of batteries. Electric motors used in the car is a clean and safe alternate to internal combustion engine used in petrol fuelled cars. The electric cars have faster acceleration and is exellent for driving short distances. It is totally exhaust free. After returning home every day I get the electric car charged so that it is ready for my next day's drive.

PEOPLE'S CAR TATA NANO NOW A REALITY!!!!

The world's most awaited car the tata nano is all set to soar india on 23/3/09....priced at abt 1,15,000 on road it surely a winner without doubt....Tata is expecting a booking of 10lakh cars this year with monthly production of 3,500 cars.... its nano plant in ahmedabad has a capacity of 2,50,000 cars a year.... TATA has set more nano lines in mind and will release the nano-diesel in mid 2009...

ilane my portable secretary

I have appointed my portable secretary. She always accompanies me in my car. She reads me out the messages received in my inbox and sends replies, forwards and sorts messages all at my verbal instructions. All this I can do while driving with my eyes on the road and my hands on the control of the car.
The ilane, a small instrument on my car which can be operated by verbal instructions. The ilane is a totally a hands free and eyes free instrument.
The ilane can read out to me magazines, weather reports, traffic news and what not. The iphone a portable secretary helps even in using my travel time in a productive way.

FIAT LINEA

Has Fiat come up with a product that can revive its glory and sell even in this downturn?? Linea is a complete package and the Multijet diesel is sure pull customers of SX4 and new city. Also Linea is very attractively priced and a VFM product. Linea has tons of practical features. Yet, we have few concerns too.. the interiors are staid and boring, quality of few parts could have been better and finally the ASS (After Sales Support) which we will come to know in few months. For the moment, welcome the style on wheels with open hands and admire her.

MARUTI A-STAR

Built on an all new platform, A-star is the fifth world strategic model for Suzuki. after the successful Swift, Grand Vitara, SX4 and Splash. . Designed by the japanese engineers to suit the european taste, this A-star will replace the alto in european markets, but in Indian markets Maruti will continue to sell Alto along with the new A-star. Styling of the A-star is typically european - the low slung grille, ellipitical glasshouse, sweeping oversized headlamps and compact dimensions gives the car the necessary character. A-star also has a good road presence. Sure, it will appeal the fair sex and be ready to share the keys with ur honey. However the straight the C-pillar and odd looking taillamp cluster are sore points.

• I own a small, beautiful and lovely family sedan.
• A few days ago while travelling on the country side she was rammed on her right side by a weight carrier and this left some scratch marks on her beautiful and soft body.
• I was on the look out for a doctor who can can treat her scratches and make her skin as beautiful as before.
• I have now come to know that scientists had come out with a polyurethane coating that heals the scratches on cars when exposed to sun light.

Ducati 1098R

The 1098R is, in typical Ducati R-model fashion, a racebike with a few bits of hardware tacked on to meet homologation and DOT requirements. Associate Editor Siahaan reported from the bike's Jerez press intro a few issues back ("Superbike for the Masses," May '08), but the executive summary is this: Compared with the base 1098, the R model's mill is hotted up with 100cc more displacement, lumpier cams, more compression, bigger titanium valves, titanium rods and the addition of a slipper clutch and secondary shower-style fuel injectors. On the chassis side, the R benefits from the Ohlins front fork and forged magnesium hoops of the S model and goes a step further with an Ohlins TTX shock (in place of the S-bike's standard Ohlins) and a smattering of carbon fiber. The end result is a package that weighs 21 pounds less than the garden-variety 1098 and packs an astounding 20 more peak horsepower.

Once you have a look at the i20, it certainly gives an impression as if it’s a big brother of the Getz. The first thing you will notice are the big headlights. Still, there is a clear impression of improvement versus Getz. The curves on the doors are attractive, while the rear portion is dominated by the new shape tail lamp reminding us of the Maruti Swift.
